Carchivio was born from the decade-long experience of professionals in the construction industry, with the aim of meeting the need to digitise and simplify the Giornale Lavori — the site work log, a key document for certifying and monitoring activities carried out on construction sites.
Objective
To transform a process traditionally tied to paper-based documentation into a streamlined digital workflow. The challenge was to speed up the creation and consultation of documents while ensuring operational accuracy and real-time data accessibility.
Carchivio is a platform designed to meet a twofold need: providing business owners with a centralised control tool and offering site workers an immediate interface for recording daily activities.
The system was developed in Drupal, a choice that made it possible to combine flexibility in content management with robust security. We structured the architecture so that business owners can manage their construction sites independently, while collaborators can enrich reports with notes and photographic documentation directly from the field.
User experience and design system
The Giornale Lavori is a legally relevant document, essential both for the historical archive of the construction site and for financial reporting. For this reason, the User Experience (UX) was designed to remove any friction: completion must be quick and must not interfere with the normal flow of productive work.
The interface design, created in Figma, focuses on visual clarity and immediacy. Every graphic element was designed to make construction site management a clear process, minimising the learning curve for users.
Main features
- Simplified access for site workers: work activities can be entered via QR Code, eliminating the need for complex login procedures during the working day.
- Management dashboard: an intuitive panel for business owners to monitor construction sites and manage worker records.
- Document export: immediate generation of the full construction site documentation, always available for administrative or legal purposes.
- Fast onboarding: an optimised registration system that allows users to set up a new profile and a new construction site in just a few moments.
To protect the client’s confidentiality, the published images show only graphic details and UI components that cannot be traced back to real data.
Development process
The project was divided into three main phases:
- UX/UI analysis and design
In collaboration with surveyor Bertozzini, we analysed the methods currently used for construction site management and the innovations that could be introduced through a digital system. This led to the creation of a service structure that is simple and immediate. - Development and technical integration
The website was built in Drupal, taking into account both ease of use and the need to maintain security and privacy. - Testing and progressive release
In the first phase, the platform was made available to a limited number of construction sites, in order to understand the limitations and needs related to the implementation. This made it possible to expand and improve the platform in line with the requirements identified.
A simple and intuitive platform
Thanks to the Carchivio platform, several construction sites have been able to:
- digitise and report the work carried out by construction workers on site;
- save the entire database of completed works on their own systems;
- simplify and standardise the process of creating a Giornale Lavori by workers.
The mobile app is now a cornerstone of the company’s digitalisation process, combining management efficiency, technological innovation and a user experience built around real operational needs.
